Dan Wise Scholarship Award – $500 per semester for 2011/2012 school year

  • Criteria: Full-time, degree seeking student majoring in Physics
  • Evidence of financial need
  • Students of all class levels are eligible
  • Essay on why the applicant deserves the award

Katie Austin Award – $1,000 per semester for 2011/2012 school year

  • Criteria:   Third year student preparing for a medical field
  • Evidence of need
  • Apply: SAU Foundation
  • Awarded by: SAU Scholarship Committee

James Anderson Award – $1,250 per semester for 2011/2012 school year

  • Criteria:  First preference is to be awarded to a  graduate of South Pontotoc School-  Pontotoc, MS.  Second preference is to be awarded to a graduate of any Pontotoc School – Pontotoc, MS.  Third preference is to be awarded to a student at Southern Arkansas University who has financial need.  Students must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA to maintain this award.

Robert Terry Supplemental Instruction Award – $500 per semester for 2011/2012 school year

  • Criteria:  to be awarded to a supplemental instruction leader
  • Apply: SAU Foundation

William M. “Buddy” Atkinson, Jr. Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 per semester

  • Criteria:  Incoming freshman to Southern Arkansas University, SAU Magnolia, AR seeking four-year Agriculture degree
  • 2.5 or better GPA
  • 19 or better ACT Score
  • Applicants must complete scholarship application (The Buddy Atkinson Memorial Scholarship Application) and attach the following items:  Cover letter from student stating how this scholarship will be beneficial to you and data sheet listing school/community activities, awards, honors, etc.  Application deadline is August 1, 2010.
  • Two letters of recommendation – one must be from a school official
  • Transcript with test scores

Lowrance and Marilyn Hodge Scholarship

  • Criteria: A pre-engineering student
  • Essay on why the applicant deserves the award
  • Completed Scholarship Application

Congressman Mike Ross Scholarship – (Awarded for 2011-2012 year)

  • Criteria: Full-time undergraduate student of any major
  • A native of the 4th Congressional District of the State of Arkansas
  • Evidence of need and of strong academic background, a strong work ethic, good personality traits, and display excellent professional potential

  • A personal statement in which the applicant outlines their educational and career goals, financial situation, and why they deserve to receive this scholarship (500 words maximum typed, double spaced, and 12 pt. font).
  • Two letters of recommendation from someone other than a relative who knows the applicant and their abilities (one should be from a school official).
  • A copy of the applicant’s transcript and ACT scores

The Rex and Betty Dodson Scholarship Award

  • Criteria: Full-time, degree-seeking student of good work ethic who does not qualify for academic scholarships
  • Students of all class levels are eligible

The Margaret Brewer Memorial Scholarship Award

  • Criteria: Full-time, degree-seeking student of good work ethic

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Uhrich Scholarship Award

  • Criteria: Full-time, degree-seeking student majoring in business, and must have and maintain a “B” average or better

Richard E. and Celeste Muse Harton Scholarship Award

  • Criteria: Full-time, degree-seeking student majoring in Theatre
  • B average

Cinda Hallman Scholarship Award

  • Criteria:  Female Students, majoring in the College of Science and Technology
  • Students of all class levels are eligible
  • One scholarship award of $17,000 annually for a student with a 30 + ACT score
  • One scholarship award of $12,000 annually for a student with a 26 + ACT score
  • Preference to be given to students from 1) Arkansas, 2) surrounding states, and 3) U.S. citizens

  • Criteria:  evidence of need and meets the University guidelines

  • Criteria:  evidence of need and meets the University guidelines

  • Criteria:  a student who has at least a 2.5 GPA and who have financial need

Larry and Brennan Talley Scholarship Award – $500 per semester for the 2011/2012 school year
