Alumni Bridge

The Southern Arkansas University Alumni Association is seeking funds for the construction of a bridge to cross the small ravine along the path from the Welcome Center to Wilkins Stadium. This is the path taken by Mulerider fans from the pre-game festivities, known as “Mulegating,” to the football field.

Have you been Mulegating? If so, you are familiar with one of SAU’s newest traditions: the food, fun, and excitement that precede each Mulerider home game. The Alumni Association sponsors one cooker, and individuals and groups set up all across the lawn. A children’s corner, live music, cheerleaders, and the SAU marching band highlight the experience.

This is a great opportunity for all Muleriders and friends of SAU to showcase their pride in the University. The cost of the bridge, landscaping, and brick-paved pathway is estimated at $50,000. The SAU Alumni Association expects to complete construction prior to the 2009 football season.

• For a gift of $125 you will receive a brick with your own name or that of a loved one; this brick will become part of the walk leading up to the bridge. We invite you to become a permanent part of the history of SAU by having a recycled brick from the Old Armory inscribed with your personal information. • Donors of $150 to $999 will be recognized on a plaque inside the Welcome Center.
• Donors of $1,000 or more will be recognized on a plaque next to the bridge.
