Farm Expansion

In 2005, Southern Arkansas University acquired 650 acres of land just north of the present campus, nearly doubling the land size of the University and making it one of the largest campuses in the state. The purchase and trust arrangement transferred the property to the SAU Foundation. At the conclusion of the term of the trust, the property will be transferred to SAU, which will have use of the entire property in the meantime.

The land will be used primarily for the agriculture program, and the University plans to move many elements of the SAU farm to the new property. Almost 200 acres of the new land will be converted to pastureland, with 457.86 acres serving as forestland for SAU’s forestry program.
