Alycya Thomas, a sophomore theatre major, is forever grateful for the opportunity to attend this year’s ASTEP’s Artist as Citizens Conference made possible by the generous benefactors of the University. Alycya was awarded the scholarship through Southern Arkansas University Foundation to help cover the registration fees and travel expenses. The week-long conference was held in New York where Alycya attended daily workshops which were both emotionally and physically challenging and was able to perform at Juilliard which she says was life-changing. The experience
was so rewarding that she accepted a summer job offer with ASTEP as a teaching artist and assistant until school starts back in late August. Alycya says she is excited to change the world, move people with her art, make her imprint on the world, and let her voice be heard. Without the generous donations from our loyal benefactors these opportunities could not be provided to our students.
